1932 - 2021

Joan “JoAnn” Chlebowski, age 88, of Toledo, passed away peacefully Monday, May 10, 2021 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo with her loving daughters by her side. She was born on October 26, 1932 to Ed and Helen Wilhelm in Toledo. JoAnn attended St. Theresa’s grade school, Scott High School and graduated from Whitney. She enjoyed camping with her family at Coldwater Lake, fishing and being in the outdoors. JoAnn liked gardening, playing cards and board games with her grandchildren. One of her favorite pastimes was watching TV Land sitcoms. JoAnn always looked forward to spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. Her smile, spirit and caring nature will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Melvin Chlebowski; and sister, Geraldine Napierala. JoAnn is survived by her loving children, Karen (Gary) Costell, Steven (Sherry) Chlebowski, Susan (John) Goldsmith and Michael (Carolyn) Chlebowski; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren; beloved little dog, Coco; and dear friends.

The family will receive guests on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 from 4 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home – West Sylvania Chapel, 3655 King Rd., Toledo (419-392-9500) with a Scripture Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Memorial Mass will begin Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 6135 Hill Ave., Toledo. Inurnment will be private at Resurrection Cemetery.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the Maumee Valley Humane Society.
