In Memory Of
George Gerald "Jerry" Mercurio
1942 - 2021

George Gerald “Jerry” Mercurio, age 78, resident of Toledo, Ohio, fought an honorable fight against dementia, but lost his battle on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at home, under hospice care, with Sue by his side. He was born on November 11, 1942, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Salvatore and Alta (Hunter) Mercurio.

Jerry graduated from Woodward High School. He retired from Chrysler Jeep after 40 years, where he had worked as a Millwright. Jerry then went on to serve in the Army National Guard. With his grandparents from Italy, he was very proud to have an Italian heritage; you could definitely tell the Sicilian in him. He obtained a black belt in Taekwondo in his late 40’s, then taught others. Jerry could have very well been known as the Tool Man, for he was always on the hunt for the next best find. He liked to listen to Jazz and the Blues. A special love for traveling, he loved to travel with the love of his life, Sue, to the Cottage at Houghton Lake in Michigan, Sanibel Island, and Disney World were just a few places they enjoyed going too. Jerry and Sue would walk on the beach picking up sea shells, a memory that Sue will cherish forever.

To all of his good friends from the 60’s, he loved you all; you know who you are. Brothers forever.

Jerry leaves behind his partner of crime for 33 years, Sue Foster. Sue would like to thank Hospice Registered Nurse, Renee, hospice aid, Lori, and everyone else who took such magnificent care of him. Also, a shout out to Sue’s best friend, Deb Dempsey, who was always there and brother, Mike.

Those left to forever cherish his memory are his companion, Susan Foster; and many family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Salvatore and Alta Mercurio; and grandparents, Joseph Salvatore and Lamantia Mercurio.

Upon Jerry’s request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Memory Lane Care Services or Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Online condolences may be expressed to the family by visiting www.NewcomerToledo.com.
