In Memory Of
Marilyn Wells
1938 - 2020
Marilyn grew up in Toledo where she attended grade school and high school. After graduating from High School, she began working at Blue Cross with one of her best friends, Margaret Billings.
Marilyn met and married Merl Gensel on May 27th, 1952 in Toledo and together they began their family having 3 children, Mark, Karen and Michael . In 1962 Marilyn and Merl moved their family to Phoenix, Arizona. This move brought them not only to their new home but also to next door neighbors, the Tippetts Family, who became lifelong friends to Marilyn. The Gensel children were also excited to have 7 new friends in the Tippetts children and together they explored their new surroundings.
In addition to her family, Marilyn's greatest gift in life was the love she shared with her friends. She stayed in touch with friends forever, from high school to later in life. After 57 years Marilyn and Marie Tippetts still remained friends. She was actually still living next to Marie in a retirement housing area shorty before she passed away.
Marilyn kept in touch with everyone through letters, cards, calls, or dropping by. She had a large circle of friends who will miss her dearly.
Everyone her daughter Karen has met over the years tells her what a sweetheart her mother was and how much they loved her. Rest in Peace Mom.
Marilyn is survived by her loving children, Mark William Gensel, Karen Sue Hurley, and Michael Leslie Gensel; grandchildren, Sarah, Ashley, Sheri, Jessica and Zachary and great grandchildren, David, Hailie, Katelyn, Aleigha, and Liam.
Marilyn’s husband Merl Gensel preceded her in death on March 30th, 1976. She later remarried to Myron Wells with whom they only shared a short time together before he passed away with Cancer.
There was a Private Family Service held and burial followed at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery, Toledo.
