Norris R. "Wally" Wallace
1931 - 2019

Norris R. “Wally” Wallace, age 87, of Toledo, took his final checkered flag on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at Flower Hospital surrounded by his loving family listening to his youngest son finish his race. He was born July 11, 1931 to Joseph and Lillian (Cartwright) Wallace in Toledo, Ohio. Wally was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He owned and operated many service stations and continued on as a mechanic at Lion Store Warehouse for 21 years before retiring. After retirement Wally continued on to own and operate W.R.P. Trailers for over 10 years. His love of racing came as a young boy and in the 50’s he became a builder/driver, it continued throughout his life; this was truly Wally’s passion until his passing. He was an avid animal lover, especially his farm animals and dogs. Wally’s sense of humor and quick wit will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandchildren, Morgan Edwards, Rocky Payton, Alvin Payton, Jr. and Robert Turner II; and great-granddaughter, Kaycie Bork. Wally is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Arletta “Dutch” Wallace; children, "Big" Connie (Alvin) Payton, Sr., Geri (Steven) Grass-Eischen, Joseph (Lysbeth) Wallace, Eugene (Tonya) Wallace, Michael (Sue) Wallace, Ricky (Patty) Childress, Andrea (Phil) Edwards, Linda Turner, "Little" Connie (Gregory) Machnicki and Daniel (Lisa) Wallace; 28 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; brother, Joseph (Sharon) Wallace; sister, Karen (Ed) Miller; canine companion, Buddy; and many other family members, racing family and dear friends.

The family will receive guests on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 from 2 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer – Southwest Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
