E Beatrice (Bea) Smedlund
1937 - 2018

E. Beatrice (Bea) Smedlund, age 81, of Toledo, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side at her home on September 26, 2018. Bea was born January 14, 1937 in Temperance, MI to Charles and Velma (Benore) Finley.

She met her loving husband Eugene in high school. They soon married and had four children. She was a proud parent and stayed at home raising her children for many years. Once the children were in their teenage years, she began her career with First Federal Savings & Loan. She retired from the bank after 18 years.

Bea and her family enjoyed many summers at their lake cottage in Angola, Indiana. For over 50 years they shared the same circle of friends with whom they enjoyed playing cards. They earned the name “Gambling Gramps and Grannie” after many gambling “road trips” throughout the state of Michigan.

Bea devoted her life to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They loved to visit as her candy dish was always full.

In addition to her parents, Bea was also preceded in death by her loving husband Eugene M. Smedlund Sr. of 58 years.

She is survived by her Son, Eugene (Wava) M Smedlund Jr.; Daughters, Cynthia (David) Jascob and Linda (Marty) McKelvey; Son, Steve (Chrysa) Smedlund; 13 grand-children; 15 great-grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive guests Sunday, September 30, 2018 from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm at Newcomer Southwest Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Monday, October 1, 2018 at 10:00 am at the funeral home followed by a Graveside Service at Toledo Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers please make a Memorial Contribution in Bea’s memory to ProMedica Hospice.
