Hugo George Heinze went to be with the Lord on March 24th at the age of 85, finally being released from his long battle with dementia. Hugo was born in Toledo on March 8th, 1933 to George and Vera Heinze who preceded him in death. Hugo attended Nathan Hale and DeVilbiss High School. He earned a B.A. in Business from the University of Toledo in 1955. He was a member of Phi Kappa Pi fraternity and belonged to the R.O.T.C. and was a member of Prussian Rifles. After graduation he attended Officer Training School at Fort Benning, Georgia and spent six years in the Army Reserves attaining the rank of Captain.

Hugo married Joyce (Dorf) on June 18th, 1955 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. He was a member there for 45 years where he taught Sunday school, was a member of The vestry and was a lay reader and chalice bearer. Hugo later attended St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church for the last 20 years.

Hugo’s first job was at George and Harry’s grocery on Dorr St. during WWII and always talked of how much he loved the people there. He later worked for the National Cash Register Company, La-Z-Boy Chair Inc., Toledo Trust, Key Bank, Peoples Savings and retired from Henry Filters in Bowling Green.

Hugo is survived by his wife, Joyce; daughter, Rebecca (Stanley) Kaiser; grandsons, Michael Kaiser, and Paul (Tara) Kaiser; great-grandson, Wyatt; sons, Hugo J. (Beth) and Andrew (Holly); granddaughters, Seneca, Haley and Liberty; sister, Lola Burke; and niece, Kathy-Ann Garber. He was preceded in death by his grandchildren, Joshua and Galianna.

A Memorial Service is to be held on May 6th at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 5240 Talmadge Rd., Toledo, OH 43623 after regular Sunday mass at 10:30 a.m. am. Newcomer – Northwest Chapel, 419-473-0300 assisted the family with professional services.
