William C. "Bill" Ellis
1927 - 2017

William C. Ellis, age 89, of Toledo, passed away August 6, 2017 at Ebeid Hospice Residence. Bill was born August 12, 1927 in Toledo to Cecil and Mildred (Guildenzoph) Ellis. He lived in Shoreland where he was raised and served as a volunteer firefighter. He served in the US Navy during World War II. After working many years, he retired from Seagrams. After retirement, you could find Bill at VFW Post 606 each morning. Bill became a Mason in his youth and continued his membership for more than 60 years. He loved to golf and had been in the same golf league for 50 years.

He is survived by his daughters, Vicki L. Ellis and Linda A. (Steve) Black; 2 grandchildren, Steven and Mark (Megan); 2 great grandchildren, Olivia and Jacob and his first wife, Gerry Ellis.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Penny.

The family would like to especially thank Susie for the special care she provided to Bill and Callie.

The family will receive guests Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300), where VFW Post 606 will hold military rights at 7 p.m. Funeral Services will begin Friday at 10:00 am. at the funeral home followed by private burial at Highland Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VFW Post 606, ProMedica Hospice in Bill's memory.
