Willie Williams, Jr. was born on November 9, 1947 to Willie and Clara Williams in Ruleville, Mississippi. At the age of 11, he moved with his family to Toledo, where a few years later he met his childhood sweetheart and the love of his life, Joyce. They were married for 54 years and together raised seven children.
Willie graduated from Jesup W. Scott High School and Andrew’s Barber College. He began his distinguished career as a barber at Fez Barber Shop. At the age of 24 he opened his own business, Generations Hair Center, which he proudly owned and operated for nearly 55 years before retiring earlier this year.
Willie loved his family deeply. When he wasn’t casting a line on the fishing banks, he could often be found at home shooting pool, playing cards, or listening to his favorite music. He was known for his wisdom, his willingness to lend a helping hand, and his unmistakable, infectious laugh. His generous spirit touched everyone who knew him, and he was loved and respected throughout his community.
On November 29, 2025, Willie peacefully transitioned from this earthly life at the age of 78, following a battle with cancer, at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital. He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Williams; his mother, Clara B. Williams-Sims; his beloved wife, Joyce; and his brothers, Onest and Allen Williams; and sister, Willie Francis Williams.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children: Steven Williams, Trina (Erik) Copeland, Willie (Margie) Williams, Yolanda Branham, Adrian Williams, Darrell (Shawne) Williams, and Kevin Williams; along with four grandchildren he lovingly raised: Brandy (John) Jones, Adrienne (Jamel) Macauley, Douglas Williams, and Deon’Dre Williams. He is further survived by 27 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren; his sisters Mildred (Larry) Parker, Vesta Mitchell, Cora Jean (Michael) Hudspeth, Barbara (Rodney) Johnson, Shelley Hughes, Vergie Williams, Eugenia Williams, and Betty Holloway; his brothers Lewis White, Willie Allen (Peggy) Williams, Eugene (Angie) Williams, and Rickey (Sherry) Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Willie’s legacy of love, service, and strength will continue to live on through all who were blessed to know him.
