William Ramos, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025, at the age of 70.
Born on June 25, 1955, in Lansing, Michigan, William was one of twelve children born to Leodegario and Hermila Ramos. Though he was known to most as William, his birth name was Petronilio given in honor of his grandfather. He discovered this name at the age of fifteen, and while it took time to embrace, it became a meaningful part of his identity later in life — a symbol of connection to his roots and personal growth.
William shared 42 years of unwavering love and partnership with his wife, Kathy Ramos. Together, they built a strong, spirited family, raising five children who were his greatest pride. He was also a proud and devoted grandfather to six grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense joy.
He spent 25 years working as a semi-truck driver — a job that reflected his dedication and tireless work ethic. But no role defined him more than that of a family man. William was a boulder at the center of his family: dependable, protective, loyal, and full of love. He played a major role in the lives of his siblings, children, nieces, and nephews, who affectionately called him “Uncle Boo.” Known for his firm discipline, he was equally known for his generous heart, showing love in every correction, every lesson, every hug.
He was goofy, loud, and had a sharp wit that made everyone laugh. A natural comedian, he found joy in teasing those he loved and filling the room with energy. Whether relaxing in his favorite recliner with a back scratcher in hand and a large orange Gatorade on ice, or manning the grill with serious skill, William knew how to create warmth and comfort wherever he was.
William was a man who never stopped growing. He was deeply influenced by his children who helped him broaden his perspectives, deepen his empathy, and live with even more love and openness. He was a man of God, humble enough to reflect, and strong enough to change. Through faith, family, and humor, he continually became a better husband, father, and man.
He will be remembered not only for the life he lived, but for the love he gave — steady, fierce, and unwavering.
William is survived by his wife Kathy, their five children, Elisa Ramos, David Ramos (Kari), Keira Ramos (Andrew), Josh Ramos (Morgan), and Taylor Ramos; six grandchildren, and his many siblings, nieces, nephews, and extended family who will carry his memory forward with love and gratitude. A visitation will take place on Monday, October 20, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home (Southwest Chapel), 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo, OH, followed by a memorial service at the same location. Burial will follow at Fort Meigs Union Cemetery in Perrysburg, Ohio.
