William S. Poulin, affectionately known to all as Billy, passed away unexpectedly on April 17, 2025, in Angola, Indiana, leaving behind a rich tapestry of memories woven from love, camaraderie, and an indomitable spirit. Born on September 26, 1959, in Toledo, Ohio, Billy's life was a vibrant blend of his passions, from the heat of the Ohio State Buckeyes games to the roar of his beloved Harley Davidson motorcycles. He embraced life with an open heart and a hearty laugh, drawing family and friends into a circle of warmth and belonging.
A respected retired pipefitter from IPS and Local 50 plumbers and pipefitters, Billy was a dedicated worker who took pride in his craft. Yet, his legacy extends far beyond his career, marked instead by his profound devotion to family. Married on July 23, 2011, to his loving wife and best friend, Lori Poulin, together they built amazing memories of laughter and adventures whether at home or vacationing. They traveled to amazing places that will always be remembered and cherished. Billy was a family man at heart. He hosted gatherings that filled his home with laughter, reveling in the presence of his children—Alycia (Dave) Poulin-Hartford, Megan Garland, and Jordan (Faith) Garland—and the joy of being a devoted grandfather to Ashton, Avery, Lawson, Zander, Silas, Ryder, and River. The tales of fishing trips with his grandchildren and the cheers he offered from the sidelines at their sporting events are etched permanently in the hearts of those who knew him.
Billy had a zest for life, reflected in his love for the outdoors, whether it was biking through scenic routes, camping beneath starlit skies, or snowmobiling in his younger years. His joy was palpable on the golf course and during lively bowling nights with friends. He forged bonds during unforgettable bike trips, and his spirit soared when surrounded by his family, especially at Ventura—a place that became a cherished venue for him over the years.
He leaves behind a rich legacy of connections as well. Billy is survived by his siblings, Karen (Kevin) Gray and Sandra (Bill) Sliwinski, along with nieces and nephews who admired him—Eric (Brenna), Alyssa, Katrina (Adam), Kyla (Eddie), Kristopher (Taryn), and Adrienne. Not only a brother and uncle, he was also a cherished friend to many, forming a special brotherhood, a tight-knit community that admired his generous spirit and infectious smile. Billy's affinity for animals was evident as he doted on his fur baby, Harley, a faithful companion who accompanied him through life's myriad adventures. His parents-in-law, Victor and Beverly Hernandez, and siblings-in-law, Eric and Patti Burke, were also a vital part of his extended family. Billy is reunited with his parents, William and Lorraine Poulin and his fur baby, Lucy who will be greeting him with a wagging tail.
In a journey that began in the vibrant surroundings of Toledo, Ohio, and found its latter chapters in loving gatherings and cherished experiences, Billy’s life may have ended, but his passions, spirit, and legacy will continue to resonate deeply within all who knew him. A visitation will be held on April 25, 2025, from 4 PM to 8 PM with a sharing of memories at 7 PM, followed by a funeral service at 10 AM on April 26, 2025, at Newcomer Funeral Home, West Sylvania in Toledo, Ohio.
