William “Bill” J. Trumbull, of Toledo, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on October 11, 2026, at the age of 76. He was born on August 12, 1950, in Toledo. Bill graduated from Rogers High School and remained deeply connected to the city that shaped his life.
Bill served his country proudly in the U.S. Army from 1970 until 1972. During his time in service, he spent part of his enlistment in Vicenza, Italy, and was honorably discharged. After returning home, he built a strong working life, serving his millwright apprenticeship at Gerity-Schultz Manufacturing before later moving to Jeep, where he worked until his retirement.
He will be remembered as an avid golfer and as someone who loved working on cars and teaching his grandson all of his mechanical and life knowledge. He also loved attending car shows, and following NASCAR. More than anything, Bill was known for the spirit he brought to those around him. He was goofy and funny, always ready to poke a joke and lighten the moment. Though he could seem to have a tough exterior, those who knew him best understood that he had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. His love for his family was at the center of his life and was one of the clearest ways he showed his generous heart.
Bill is survived by his wife, Connie Trumbull, with whom he shared 41 years of marriage. He also leaves behind his daughters, Courtney Litten and Ginger Bates, and his grandchildren, Jae, Clara, Meghan, and Elizabeth, who were part of the family he loved so dearly. He is also survived by his sisters, Shirley Ziehr, Kathleen Trumbull, and Linda Trumbull, and by his brothers, Thomas Trumbull, Robert (Toni) Trumbull, Richard Trumbull, David Trumbull, Ronald (Betty) Trumbull, Michael Trumbull, and James (Debbie) Trumbull. Each of them carries forward memories of his humor, his loyalty, and the care he gave so freely. Bill also leaves behind his faithful companion and best dog, Wendy.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Wendy Trumbull; by his father, Beryl Trumbull; and his mother, Rita (Malczewski) Trumbull.
Bill’s life was one of faith, service, hard work, laughter, and devotion to the people he loved. He will be deeply missed and warmly remembered by all who knew him.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday, October 20, 2026 from 1:00 pm until the start of the Funeral Service at 6:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - West Sylvania Chapel, 3655 King Rd, Toledo.
