William Robert Berger, age 78, of Maumee, Ohio, passed away at his home on October 14, 2026. He was born on September 3, 1948, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to Robert W. and Lucille (Hern) Berger.
Bill grew up in Fostoria, Ohio, where he attended Fostoria High School and played varsity football. He also enjoyed playing basketball during his younger years.
Bill proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force. During his military service, he was stationed in Italy, where he worked as a Serbo-Croatian language interpreter.
Bill began his working career at Ohio Farmers and later worked as a salesman at J.T.'s General Store, where he earned numerous awards for his outstanding sales achievements. In 1996, he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he worked as a water treatment specialist for the Clark County School District until his retirement in 2012.
Bill had a love for travel and adventure. After retiring, he moved to the Philippines, where he enjoyed experiencing a different part of the world and savoring fresh mangoes, his favorite fruit there. He eventually returned to Ohio and spent his final years at Waterside in Monclova, where he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Bill loved cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Indians, and Cleveland Browns, though the Browns tested his patience in recent years. In his free time, he enjoyed riding motorcycles, admiring vintage cars, gardening, bowling, and watching classic television shows. He also had a special place in his heart for his pets, including Moe, Lucy, and Lucille, who brought him companionship and joy throughout his life. Golden retrievers were his favorite breed. Whether enjoying his favorite hobbies or spending time with loved ones, Bill appreciated the simple pleasures in life.
Bill is survived by his wife, Little Mae Bayron, who resides in the Philippines; his son, Eric; daughters, Kim (Fred) Welter and Liz (Jay) Dazley; grandchildren, Austin, Amber, Tyler, Bella, Liam, and Lainey; brother, Gary (Jeannie) Berger; sister, Tere Martin; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert W. and Lucille Berger.
Services for Bill will be private.
Bill will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, the experiences he gathered throughout his life, and the memories he shared with family and friends. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
