Walter V. Speelman, Sr.

Walter V. Speelman, Sr. age 74 of Toledo, Ohio passed away on June 9, 2025 at Promedica Flower Hospital. He was born in Toledo on August 7, 1950, to Charles and Marion (Mercer) Speelman.

Walt was a proud veteran serving in the Vietnam War. He was employed at Jeep for many years until his retirement. Walt enjoyed gardening in his yard, his dog Oddie, and having a good time with his friends and family. Walt loved to laugh.

Surviving are his children, Walter V. (Danielle) Speelman Jr., Shanon (Elvis) Speelman, Jamie (Hector) Melendez; grandchildren, Cindy L. Gonzelez, Alicia M. Speelman, Walter Speelman III; Jakeitha (Kyle) Robinson, Parker Middlebrooks; Shelby Speelman, Alana Melendez, Sydney (Juan) Melendez, Ava Melendez, Giovoni Melendez; Great Grandchildren, Lilly, Gary, Ares, Walter III, Mary Jane, Kostyn, Jaiden, Jaxton, Zayden, Bryson, Devonta, Layloni, Alejandro; Siblings, Bill Speelman, David (Amy) Speelman and sister, Peggy Ramm. Also surviving is his canine companion and best friend, Oddie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Kelley Speelman; siblings, Francis Cook, Linda Castilleja and Judy Medina.

Family and friends will be received the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo on Monday, June 16, 2025, from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM. A service celebrating Walt’s life will be held immediately following visitation at 12:00 PM.
