Walter Perrin, fondly known as "Walt," passed away on April 10, 2026, in his hometown of Toledo, Ohio. Born on March 30, 1951, Walter lived a life characterized by unwavering dedication, generosity, and passion for both his family and community.
A native of Toledo, Walter attended Scott High School, where his athletic spirit began to flourish a love for sports that remained with him throughout his life. He was a devoted fan of the Cleveland Browns and the University of Michigan football teams, and he enjoyed playing softball as a cherished pastime. These interests reflected his energetic and loyal nature, qualities that defined his character both on and off the field.
Walter's career was marked by steadfast commitment and hard work. In his younger years, he was employed with The EOPA (Pathway) Summer Crisis Program in Toledo, Ohio, demonstrating his early dedication to serving others. He later became a faithful member of UAW Local 14, where he worked diligently for over 30 years at AP Parts until his retirement. His work ethic garnered admiration from colleagues and friends alike.
Walter’s proudest accomplishments were deeply rooted in family. He rejoiced in seeing his only son, Walter Hooks, graduate from both high school and college and took immense pleasure in spoiling him lovingly. Walter’s unconditional love for his family was a cornerstone of his life a love that shaped his every action and decision.
Among those who loved and cherished Walter are his son, Walter Hooks; his brothers, Floyd (Deborah) Perrin, James Perrin, Earl (Twyla) Perrin, and Vincent (Cynthia) Perrin, a special friend Juice; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who hold his memory dear.
Walter often shared treasured moments with his brothers, especially Floyd, as they traveled to Tennessee each summer to take their mother to visit family and made trips to New York to see their father. These memories speak volumes about his dedication to family bonds and the joy he found in togetherness.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Floyd Sr. and Inez Perrin; his sisters, Mary Alice Seymore and Krista Perrin; and his brother, Anthony Perrin. Though these dear family members have passed on, Walter’s legacy of loyalty, care, and hard work continues to inspire all who knew him.
A memorial gathering in honor of Walter Perrin will be held on April 17, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Toledo, located at 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo, OH 43614. This event will provide an opportunity for family, friends, and community members to come together to celebrate a life well lived.
Walter “Walt” Perrin’s spirit will forever linger in the hearts of his loved ones, remembered as a hardworking, athletic, loyal, generous, passionate, caring, and dedicated man who left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his memory be a blessing and his legacy endure.
