Vyvyan M. Shelton, age 88, of Sylvania, Ohio passed away on July 31, 2026, at the Lakes of Sylvania Nursing Home.
Vyvyan was born on July 12, 1938 to John and Dorothy Hurst of Toledo. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, brother John Hurst, sister Neva Klostermeier and daughter-in-law Suki Sopher.
She is survived by her children Michael Sopher, Terri (Randy) Goodman, Kevin McCormick, and Steve (Annie) McCormick; grandchildren Brandon (Jen) Goodman, Nycole (Dan) Clark, Ashley (Tim) Bodine, Brittani (Raymond) Martin, David (Candace) McCormick, and Justin Sopher; great-grandchildren Audrey Hendry, Blake Goodman, Abby Clark, Madison McCormick, Brantley Goodman, Lilly Bodine, Alia Martin, Harlow Goodman, Scarlet Bodine, Gwen Sopher, Nora and David McCormick Jr. She is also survived by cherished nieces and nephews, many friends and her beloved four-legged companion Willow.
Vyvyan loved country line-dancing and "Boot Scootin Boogie" was her favorite song. She was a Teen Town participant in her childhood and danced on TV.
She was a Legal Secretary for 51 years, retiring at age 72. Thirty-two of those working years were with Jack Hilbert, whom she loved as family.
She then became the Task Manager and social butterfly at Goodman Bkpg & Tax Services LLC, Maumee for 14 years, where she met, greeted, and entertained clients.
She was a QVC fanatic and an avid dog lover to say the least. She fostered and rescued many dogs in her life. She took in dogs of friends who passed away and she sends a special thank you to her friend Judy Keel, Toledo for taking Willow in when she moved to assisted living.
She cherished her friendship with Bev Winsted who loved, protected and watched over Vyvyan while they both resided at Lakes of Sylvania. The two of them were “family” as they shared a grandson, granddaughter, and great-granddaughter, and they made sure everyone at Lakes knew it!
Family and friends will be received at the Newcomer Funeral Home (Southwest Chapel), 4752 Heatherdowns, Toledo, on Saturday, August 8, 2026 from 10:00am to 1200pm with services immediately following visitation at 12:00pm. Memorial contributions she requests go to the ASPCA.
