It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Violet A. Blanton, who left us on February 9, 2026, in Pataskala, Ohio, at the age of 100. Born on May 13 1925, in Toledo, Ohio, Violet was a remarkable woman whose kindness and compassion touched the lives of everyone she encountered.
Violet had a long and fulfilling career with Lion Store in Toledo, where she dedicated herself to her work with enthusiasm and grace. After retiring, she enjoyed a new chapter of life alongside her beloved husband, William "Bill" Blanton. Together, they formed cherished memories that included traveling and spending joyful moments with their children and grandchildren. Violet's warmth and supportive nature were evident in every interaction; she was a steadfast source of encouragement for her family and friends.
Violet was not only known for her caring demeanor but also for her vibrant spirit, which shone brightly in her many hobbies and interests. She was an active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, where her contributions were invaluable. A passionate quilter, she was involved in a quilting guild that generously donated beautiful quilts to various charitable organizations, ensuring that love and comfort were shared throughout the community.
Violet's involvement extended beyond her church—she was a proud member of the Toledo Camera Club, the Toledo Topics Club, and the Toledo Naturalist Club. These engagements satisfied her thirst for taking beautiful photos with Bill and her desire for adventure. Her love for travel allowed her to explore the beauty of the world alongside Bill, and together they experienced life to its fullest.
At the heart of her life was her family. Violet is survived by her devoted children, Vicky Coombs and Bill Blanton. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Matthew Coombs and his wife Melinda, and Eric Blanton and his wife Linda. Violet also leaves behind her precious great-grandchildren, Jamie Coombs, Noah Coombs, and Amber Angel, as well as her delightful great-great-grandchildren, Londynn Angel and Loland Cross.
Violet’s heart will be remembered by those closest to her, but she is also predeceased by many cherished family members, including her husband, William H. Blanton, granddaughter Wendy Coombs, and son-in-law William Coombs, as well as her daughter-in-law Sheryl Blanton, brother Thomas Beehner, and sister Virginia Ressen. Their spirits will welcome her into eternity.
Her legacy is one of resilience, joy, and love. Violet recently celebrated her 100th birthday, surrounded by family and friends who adored her. She was kind, caring, and always ready with a smile. Yet, when playing games with her grandchildren, she was known to make them earn their victories, adding a playful spirit to her nurturing side.
Visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, West Sylvania in Toledo on February 18, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. A graveside service will take place at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park at 2:15 PM.
As we mourn the passing of Violet A. Blanton, we also celebrate the extraordinary life she lived, filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those she touched.
