We are honoring Viola (Vi) Eulion Lofton, the eldest daughter of the late Bennie and Ivory Lofton, who was born on September 23rd, 1951, in Toledo, OH. She departed this life at the age of 72, on Friday March 15th, 2024, in Charlotte, NC.
Vi graduated from the University of Toledo with a bachelor's degree in business administration. Following graduation, she started her career in accounting at the University of Toledo. A few years later, she took on a position with BSN Medical (JOBST) which eventually relocated her to Charlotte, NC. After many years with BSN, she found herself landing a position with Bank of America, where she remained for over 20 years, however many may also know her as your loyal tax accountant.
Vi was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who was very devoted to the people and things she cherished including the color red. She was a kind, generous and selfless woman who had a laugh that was guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Some of Vi's greatest pleasures were traveling, long walks, and the performing arts, which lead her to pick up a part time job at Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, where she worked for many years.
Vi is survived by her children, LaTrise (Eric) Brame, Kenneth Gilmore Jr., and LaTrina Gilmore; siblings, Betty (Vincent) Copeland, Bennie Lofton, Ivory Lofton, James Lofton, Elouise Rease, Joseph Lofton, David Lofton, Eddie Lofton, Johnny Lofton, Tina (Brundell) Taylor, and Sandy Lofton; grandchildren, Brittany, Tynesha, and Mia-Joi; great-grandchildren, Melody, Harmony, Kadence, Aria, Dejean Dior (DJ), Saadia; companion, Kenneth Gilmore Sr and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Proceeding her in death were her loving parents, Bennie and Ivory Lofton, her brother Kenneth Lofton and nephew William (Andy) Lofton.
The family will receive guests, on Saturday, March 30th, 2024 from 9:00a.m. - 10:00 a.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. Toledo, OH 43614 (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Saturday at 10:00 am. at the funeral home followed by burial at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
Her departure comes as a great shock and deep wound, it is gravely felt by her entire family and countless others who loved her deeply in her network of community.
