On June 6, 2025, Vincent Anthony Anello (Vinny) passed away unexpectedly at the age of 28. His loss brings immense sorrow to all who knew him, but we remember and celebrate the compassion, humor, and remarkable talent he so freely shared.
Vincent was born on August 10, 1996, in Toledo, Ohio, to Jodi Gerity and Leo Anello. From a young age, Vinny showed a natural gift for reading and technology—his computer and gaming skills often left those around him amazed. He shared his passion for gaming and technology with his father Leo Anello, as well as attending Anello family gatherings.
He also found joy in live music and attending shows, no matter the size or genre. From small, hidden gem venues to major tours, Vinny cherished the energy and connection of being surrounded by music. It was one of the many ways he experienced the world with depth and feeling.
A deep admirer of Japanese culture and folklore, Vincent was especially drawn to the symbolism behind the kitsune mask—a mystical fox spirit known for wisdom, transformation, and protection. He found meaning in the duality of the kitsune, seeing it as a reflection of the complexity and beauty of life, and often incorporated this imagery into his personal style and creative expression.
Vinny was also a fierce animal lover with a heart big enough for every creature—whether it be cats and dogs or ferrets and foxes. His compassion extended deeply to his family and friends, He was deeply selfless and never hesitated to stand up for what he believed was right.
One of his greatest joys was diving into deep research and sharing late-night talks with his stepdad, Tommy, on everything from politics and science to nature and philosophy. Vinny’s light, curiosity, and creative spirit left a lasting impact on all who were fortunate to know him.
He is survived by his loving parents, Jodi Schlegel (Gerity), Leo Anello, and stepfather Tommy Schlegel; siblings, Jordan Rucki (Matthew J. Rucki), Sophia Schlegel, Edie Schlegel, and Gabrielle Anello; grandmother, Jane Ochoa; and cherished nieces and nephews, Matthew W. Rucki, Avlyn Rucki, Roman Rucki, and Dallas Lindquist. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, John Gerity and Anthony Anello; grandmother, Georgia Anello; and uncles, Steven Anello and Anthony(Tony) Anello.
