Victor S. "Vito" DiJohn, age 73, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025, at the University of Toledo Medical Center. Born on March 11, 1952, in Waterloo, NY, he was the beloved son of Victor and Jane DiJohn.
Vic dedicated 30 years of his life to educating young minds as a teacher at Rossford High School, retiring in 2005. He had a passion for sports, having played football at Bowling Green State University, and was an enthusiastic follower of the Cleveland Browns, embracing the highs and lows of his team. In addition to sports, Vic enjoyed racketball, golf, and working out. He cherished sitting on his front porch, a space that often welcomed family and friends, reflecting his love for togetherness.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 20 years, Joan DiJohn; his children, Nate (Devryn) DiJohn, Brooke (Richard) Culbertson, and Brad Owczarzak; as well as his grandchildren, Sofia and Dane DiJohn, Richard Culbertson, Aubry (Austin) Yockey, Panic (Alexandria) Culbertson, Bradley, Josalynn, and Madix Owczarzak. Vic took great joy in being a grandfather and great-grandfather to Jace, Oliver, Marcie Culbertson, Shire Yockey, Nolan, and Grayson Culbertson. He was preceded in death by his brother, Steven DiJohn, and he will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
Family and friends are invited to gather and pay their respects at the Newcomer Funeral Home (Southwest Chapel), located at 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo, on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The funeral service will follow immediately at 12:00 PM, with interment at Toledo Memorial Park. In honor of Vic's life, memorial contributions may be made to St.Jude Children’s Hospital or the Toledo Humane Society.
