Toni Hamilton, age 66, of Millstone Loop in Powell, Ohio, passed away at 10:29 a.m. on October 10th at Dublin Methodist Hospital. She departed under conditions that she had wanted – peacefully, swiftly, while resting – after having had time with her daughters and close friends in the preceding hours.
Toni left this plane a sage of legal and insurance wisdom, after having worked as a Senior Litigation Specialist and Claims Manager in healthcare and insurance for nearly 45 years. She was a 1976 graduate of Maumee High School, graduating early. She attended the University of Toledo and Owens Community College for her undergraduate studies. She received an Associate’s Certification in Claims in 2006 and a Master’s Certificate from Villanova University in 2011, as well as several professional certifications, including CPCU, AINS, CPHRM.
It was the pleasure of her life to have grown up in Maumee, in the more wild freedoms of the 1970s. Throughout her life, she loved water: She loved skiing and fishing in the lakes and rivers of Ohio and Michigan, beach vacations (the sound of the waves, the beauty of the sea, the serenity), and during her years in Florida, basking in the warm tropical winds as they rustled the trees over her pool. Her love for water took her to the Caribbean, where she researched and dove with sharks.
Toni came alive at work, exercising her unmatched tenacity and mental agility in her profession. She lived, too, for her many deep friendships. As many of us know first-hand, Toni was a person who took her friendships and her family bonds seriously. Throughout her life, throughout even her four separate battles with cancer and the enduring fights she waged to overcome them all, she spent hours tending to and enjoying her relationships over the phone, giving witness to our lives in ways many of us never experienced otherwise. She never failed to speak her mind, and her solidarity was unflinching – she was always there, ready to be our backbone, at the first call. She was a tenacious warrior but with a tender heart at the ready to give enormously to those she loved.
In the last months of her life, she had moved back to Ohio where she found new life in making her new home and hosting reunions with family and friends. In her cd players those last days were Elton John and Pure Prairie League. A freshly ordered vinyl of Abbey Road that she’d bought the night before arrived the day of her passing, whose closing message reminds us:
And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.
Surviving are her daughters, Lindsay Vogt (Adrian Jaeggi) and Casey Hamilton; brother, Blair Kramer (Megan Reed Kramer); grandchildren, Sascha and River Jaeggi; and nephews, Kellen and Clayton Kramer.
We invite any who would like to celebrate her life and friendship, and to join us in our circle of mourning, to her memorial service, which will be held at 12-3 p.m. on Saturday, October 25th, 2025 at Newcomer Funeral Home on Heatherdowns. Visitation with the family will be held 12-2 p.m. with a memorial service to start at 2 p.m.
