Tobias Keith Hueston entered this world on February 18, 1966, in Toledo, Ohio, born to Sharon Hueston and welcomed into a home grounded in strong values and abiding love. Raised alongside his four brothers in a nurturing and traditional household, Tobias was immersed in faith from an early age; a spiritual foundation that would accompany him throughout his life. He was baptized at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Toledo, Ohio, under the esteemed leadership of the late Reverend Elijah Benton. His walk of faith continued when he united with Beautiful Gate Ministry in Cleveland, Ohio, where he served faithfully as a dedicated member and Deacon in Training.
Growing up in Toledo's vibrant community, Tobias, affectionately known as Toby embraced life with characteristic enthusiasm. He was an active young man who loved sports, was a member of The Boys Club, and attended numerous summer day camps. A proud alumnus of Morrison E. Waite High School, Toby distinguished himself as a conscientious student and a beloved presence among his peers. His natural sociability and gift for conversation endeared him to all who crossed his path.
Following his graduation, Toby pursued higher education at The Ohio State University Regional Campus in the Cleveland area, where he majored in Hospitality Management. He made Cleveland his home, building a distinguished career at Cleveland Clinic over many years. Ever industrious and driven, he supplemented his primary career with additional work; a testament to his exceptional work ethic and unwavering dedication.
At the center of Toby's world was his beloved mother, whom he tenderly called "Mommy", an endearment that spoke volumes of the profound bond they shared. He adored her without reservation, and she him. Equally dear to his heart were his four brothers and his 1st cousins, who were as close to him as siblings. Toby's greatest joy was found in the company of others. He was a gifted communicator whose infectious smile had the remarkable ability to illuminate any room he entered. A passionate sports enthusiast and devoted Steelers fan, he brought that same fervor to all aspects of life. Those who knew Toby knew of his impeccable sense of style, he was meticulous about his appearance, always perfectly coordinated whether in casual wear or formal attire.
The memory of Toby's love for his family and friends will endure as a lasting and cherished treasure. His innate capacity to make every person feel uniquely valued was a rare and beautiful gift. He possessed a heart of gold; generous, warm, and boundless, one whose imprint will outlast the measure of his earthly years.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Hueston; his brother, Leslie Hueston; his grandparents, James and Lee Anna Hueston; and his uncles, Lionel, Melvin, and John Hueston; and his aunt, Marguerite Barry.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Kristian Hawkins, and his two grandchildren; his brothers, Darron (Rose), Randall (Lisa), and Clinton (Kelly) Hueston; his aunts, Sandra Minor, Jean (Elwood) Rayford, Gwen Hueston, Brenda Smith and Dana Hueston; his uncle, Kevin (Gail) Hueston; his great-aunt, Rose Bethea; as well as a devoted circle of nieces, nephews, and a host of beloved cousins and friends.
