Listen to Obituary

Timothy John Rooks Sr., affectionately known as Tim, passed away peacefully in Toledo, Ohio, on October 7, 2025, just days shy of his 70th birthday. Born on October 10, 1955, Tim was a lifelong resident of Toledo, where he built a legacy as a dedicated steel worker and a cherished family man.

For 38 remarkable years, Tim committed himself to Heidtman Steel, where he excelled as a plant manager. His leadership was characterized by a deep sense of responsibility and care for his team; whether day or night, Tim was always ready to lend a hand and solve problems. His colleagues respected him not only for his work ethic but also for the genuine kindness he extended to everyone around him.

Tim was known for his unwavering support and mentorship. He had an open door for anyone who needed it and could never bring himself to say no. His family recalls many memories of him being hands-on, teaching his children how to fix anything they encountered, showcasing his broad knowledge and practical skills. Tim's personality was a delightful contrast; hardheaded yet soft-hearted, with a humor that was quick-witted and contagious.

In his leisure, Tim enjoyed a variety of hobbies. He had a passion for golf, loved the thrill of NASCAR races, and found joy in boating. He cherished moments spent at the local VFW post and frequently visited casinos, always in good spirits. Tim also took pleasure in restoring old cars and tinkering with his beloved 1977 Honda 550 motorcycle. His love for dogs added to his vibrant life, as they were cherished companions through life's journey.

Tim is survived by his devoted family, including his cherished son, Timothy J. Rooks Jr., and his wife Brandi; sons, David A. Rooks and Brian D. Rooks, and his wife Jeannie; as well as his beloved grandchildren: Kayla, Nate, Zacharie, Logan, Devin, Madison, Ethan, Aiden, Christopher, Donovan and Mason; along with great-granddaughter Cassia Jane and  great-grandsons Oliver Rain Startzman, and Logan Jay Yarberry. Tim also leaves behind brothers Robert A. Rooks; David W. Rooks and his wife Sherry; Joseph Lee Rooks and his wife Sue; Harold L. Rooks and his wife Jill; Lewis Thomas Rooks and his wife Angela; sisters Jane M. Rooks and Cathy Crippen; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

Tim's life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and dedication, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him. His spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to call him family and friend. Tim will be remembered fondly for his contributions, the warmth of his personality, quick wittiness and the countless lives he touched throughout his journey.
