It is with heavy hearts and yet a smile on our faces that we announce the passing of Thomas R. Pointinger, Sr., who departed this world on February 8, 2026, in the city he adored: Toledo, Ohio. Born on July 20, 1945, Thomas lived a life that can only be described as rich in love, laughter, and a dash of good-natured mischief.

A proud alumnus of Central Catholic High School, Thomas carried the lessons he learned not just in the classroom but also in the hallways of life. He ventured into the world, enlisting in the U.S. Air Force on December 26, 1963, where he dutifully served his country with honor before returning home to hang up his military coat. He received accolades including the National Defense Service Medal and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal – though those medals were perhaps matched in prestige only by the stories he would tell.

On a sunny day in May of 1968, Thomas sealed his fate by marrying his devoted wife, Elena. Together, they created a beautiful family and embraced life's adventures hand-in-hand. He was a loving and dedicated father to their children, Thomas Jr. and Christina (Andrew) Pointinger. His warmth extended further to his cherished granddaughter, Almeria, who he undoubtedly spoiled with laughter and love.

With a personality that lit up every room, Thomas was known for his outgoing nature and sense of humor that could brighten even the dreariest of days. Be it on the bowling alley or the greens of a golf course, he engaged in these hobbies not just with enthusiasm, but with the kind of commitment that made every outing one for the books. He and Elena shared countless afternoons at the casino in Windsor, Canada, where their playful banter could often be heard above the clinking of slot machines.

Thomas was also an ardent animal lover. It could be said that no furry creature went unattended within his vicinity, and his kindness extended to all beings, human and otherwise. He often joked that his pets had better lives than most humans—something that was undoubtedly true, especially from an animal's point of view!

Though Thomas was preceded in death by his loving parents, William and Agnes Pointinger, his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. We celebrate his life, the joy he spread, and the love he shared. May he find peace in the great beyond, likely ready to tell a joke to the angels and teach them the rules of golf. Rest well, Thomas R. Pointinger, Sr.; you will be missed more than words can express but remembered with warmth and laughter by your devoted family and friends.
