Thomas J. "Tom" McNett, Jr., age 76, of Sylvania, OH passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 with his loving wife by his side. He was born on April 2, 1947 to Thomas Sr. and Helen (Kardatzke) McNett in Toledo, OH. Tom graduated from Sylvania High School. He worked for Ford Motor Company for many years before retiring. Tom was an inventor and inquisitive by nature. He loved to figure out the solution to any problem. Tom was always excited to tackle a new challenge. He was also a jack of all trades, very handy, and loved woodworking.
He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and a lot of fishing. Throughout the years Tom took part in bowling leagues mainly at Timbers, even having a 300 game. He liked archery and received many awards from competitions. Tom was a diehard sports fan, especially of The Ohio State Buckeyes, the Detroit Tigers and the Detroit Lions. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. Tom was always fighting the good fight and took the side of good. He was very passionate in his beliefs and everything he did. Tom's smile, spirit, generosity, and feisty nature will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Dyer; son, Thomas J. McNett, III; sister, Sharon McNett; and many other loving family members. Left to cherish Tom's memory are his loving wife of 56 years, Barbara McNett; children, Carol Dyer, Kris (Jay) Hamilton, and Robert "Bob" (Amie) McNett; grandchildren, Troy Dyer, Jessica Dyer, Nikolas Hamilton, Sabastian Hamilton, Mackenzie McClain, and Riley McClain; siblings, Patricia Ross and Edward (Jeanne) McNett; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home – Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
