Thomas Paul Kaufman

Thomas Paul Kaufman, 72, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2026, in Kingwood, Texas.

Born on November 6, 1953, Tom was a devoted father, proud grandfather, and lifelong Ohio State football fan. Originally from Toledo, Ohio, he built a life centered around the things that mattered most to him: his faith and his family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy Kaufman, who passed away in 2018. Together, Tom and Nancy built a life filled with love, family, great friends and amazing memories.

Tom's dedication and love for Jesus Christ were at the heart of his life. His faith and his church community were a source of strength, comfort, and guidance, and his love for the Lord remained steadfast throughout his journey.

A devoted father and provider, Tom took great pride in supporting his daughters, Lindsay and Kristy, throughout their lives. Some of the family's happiest memories were made during their younger years at their cottage on Devil's Lake, where Tom embraced the lake life. He loved spending weekends boating, enjoying the water, and making memories with his girls. As his daughters grew older and both attended Ohio University, he loved visiting them for Father's Weekends, continuing to create special memories they would always remember.

Above all else, Tom's greatest joy in life was his five grandchildren. Living near his grandchildren Eli and Lyla in Texas, he was a constant presence in their lives. Whether he was spending entire weekends on the sidelines cheering them on at football, baseball, and softball games, driving them to practices, or picking them up from school, there was nowhere he would rather be. He was their biggest fan, and being their grandfather was a role he treasured more than anything.

Tom also loved returning to his hometown of Toledo, Ohio, where he loved spending time with his daughter Kristy, her husband Ben, and his granddaughters, Layla, Lydia, and Vivienne. No matter the distance, his family was always at the center of his world, and the time he spent with each of them brought him so much happiness.

A proud and passionate Ohio State Buckeyes fan, Tom loved cheering on his team. His love for Ohio State football and his Toledo roots remained an important part of who he was throughout his life.

Tom is survived by his two daughters, Lindsay Rice (Douglas) and Kristen Cranston (Benjamin); and his five beloved grandchildren, Eli Rice, Lyla Rice, Layla Cranston, Lydia Cranston, and Vivienne Cranston.

Tom will be remembered for his deep faith, his unwavering love for his family, and the countless memories they created together. While his family will miss him dearly, they take comfort in his faith and the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ. His greatest legacy lives on in the five grandchildren who brought him so much joy and in the family who will carry his love with them forever.

And finally, he wouldn’t want his obituary to be ended in any other way. We love you so much Dad/Grandpa...GO BUCKS!

A  visitation will be held on Friday, October 2, from 5:00–8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home – Northwest Toledo Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo, OH 43623. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 3, at 11:00 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home – Northwest Toledo Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo, OH 43623.

A luncheon will immediately follow the service at Sidelines Sports Eatery, 8116 Secor Rd., Lambertville, MI 48144.
