1952-2026

Thomas “Tom” Dressel passed away peacefully at home on September 1, 2026 at the age of 73 in Toledo, where he was born and raised. He was the son of Leo and Georgiana Dressel. Tom attended St. Agnes Elementary School; was a 1970 graduate of Central Catholic High School; a graduate of the University of Toledo, and became an RN in 1984. Tom joined the Toledo Fire & Rescue Department in 1985, which he served his community honorably and retired in 2011.

Tom truly loved to fish, travel, go to casinos, golf, was a cigar aficionado, avid coffee cup collector, and was a loyal Lions football fan. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather (Papa), a loyal friend, and a proud member of the “Choir Boys”.

Tom is survived by his loving wife Shirlene Dressel; son Travis (Leigh) Dressel; “bonus son” Pat High, step-daughters Angi (Doni) Parks, Melissa (Shawn) Davis; grandchildren Clara, Briar, Eveie, and Tyler; sister Jean (Dan) Kerr; brothers Charlie (Shelley) Dressel, Gary (Marian) Dressel; special niece Lynn (Steve) Yarnboon; The God Father to nephew Matt Dressel, along with many other beloved nieces, nephews and families. Tom was preceded in death by his parents; his Uncle Robert “Unk” Hoover; and his brothers Robert and Jeffery Dressel.

Tom leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and generosity that will forever be remembered by all whose lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and his loss will leave a huge void for those that knew and loved him. Heaven has gained a “special” Angel.

To honor Tom’s memory, we are holding a Funeral Service on September 9, 2026 at Newcomer West Chapel on King Rd. Visitation from 3:00-6:00pm, with Cigar Celebration at 5:30pm. Service at 6:00pm with Last Alarm at 7:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Toledo Fire Museum, Cherry Street Mission, or Cuties Fund at Lucas County Canine Care & Control.
