Thomas James Bartlett, fondly known as Tom, was born on February 17, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois, and passed away on January 26, 2026, in Toledo, Ohio. A beloved figure in the lives of many, Tom's warmth, humor, and vibrant spirit left a remarkable imprint on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Tom's journey in life was marked by his dedication to both family and career. Graduating from Swartz Creek High School, he went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Ferris State College, attained a degree in ophthalmology and played football for the University of New Mexico, and attended the University of Toledo - College of Medicine. For over 30 years, Tom thrived as a medical salesman, earning numerous plaques for being the salesman of the year. He took pride in serving his community and made many lifelong friends through his dedicated work.

As an Army Veteran who served during the Vietnam War, Tom exemplified courage and patriotism. His commitment to service extended beyond his military tenure, as he became an active member of local organizations including the VFW Post 2898, the Moose Lodge 1579, and various boating clubs, including the Riverview Yacht Club, where he created cherished memories.

Tom's life was filled with adventure and passion, especially reflected in his love for classic cars. An avid enthusiast, he devoted time to restoring and collecting many cars over the years including his 1940 Ford and frequently attended car shows, relishing the camaraderie found in shared interests. The weekends were often spent boating with friends and family at Lost Peninsula, where laughter echoed around the boat dock. These excursions were a testament to his zest for life, and memories of those outings illustrate the joy he found in nature alongside those he loved.

A devoted family man, Tom is survived by his best friend and fiancé, Robin Heil, and his son, Matt (Katie) Bartlett, who carry forward his legacy in their hearts. His twin brother, William Bartlett, shares in the sorrow of his loss while honoring their bond as brothers. As a grandfather to Ashley Bartlett and great-grandfather to Arianna Kwapich, Grace Kwapich, and Miley Kwapich, Tom reveled in the love and laughter of his family, proudly celebrating their milestones and adventures.

Tom was an avid fan of Michigan football, his enthusiasm igniting camaraderie among friends and family during game days. He possessed a delightful sense of humor, earning him affection from all quarters. He cherished every gathering and was happiest surrounded by loved ones, creating an atmosphere of warmth and happiness.

Though he has left this world, Tom's spirit lives on in the lives he touched, the laughter he shared, and the memories he created. He joins the arms of his beloved mother, Ruth, and father, Earl, along with his dear four-legged friend, Molly, in everlasting peace. As we remember Tom, his legacy of love, friendship, and service will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
