In Loving Memory of Sylvester Bragg “TC Top Cat”

Sylvester Bragg, affectionately known as “TC” or “Top Cat,” was born on July 16, 1961. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend whose vibrant personality and unforgettable spirit touched the lives of many.

Sylvester was raised by his grandmother, Mother Ruth, and his beloved sister, Phyllis. The love and support of his family remained an important part of his life and continued to be a source of strength and comfort throughout his life.

Sylvester attended Woodward High School. He had a deep love for fishing, cars, music, and looking his best. TC loved to dress fly and could always be counted on to bring his own special style wherever he went. He took pride in his appearance and carried himself with a confidence that was uniquely his own.

When TC was around, music was rarely far away. He had a true love and appreciation for music and always kept a stereo system nearby. One of his favorite songs was “I Tried” by the Geto Boys, a song that became part of the soundtrack of his life.

Sylvester also loved to cook. Catfish was his favorite food. He loved catfish so much that when he acquired his apartment, he cooked catfish every day for an entire month! That story, like so many others about TC, is one his family and friends will remember with a smile.

Sylvester loved gathering with family and friends and was often the life of the party. He brought laughter, energy, conversation, and good times wherever he went. His infectious personality could light up a room, and his presence made any gathering more memorable.

Even during his long illness, Sylvester remained determined to maintain his independence. He could often be seen traveling the city streets in his motorized wheelchair, living life on his own terms and refusing to let his illness define him. He fought hard to live. His strength, determination, courage, and fighting spirit were an inspiration to everyone who knew and loved him.

TC was especially fond of his family and friends and held a special place in his heart for his nephew and road dawg, Pfalus Garmon. The bond they shared was one that will forever be cherished.

Sylvester was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Day; father, Sylvester Bragg; sister, Deborah Gulley; and brother, Kenneth Bragg.

He leaves to cherish his memory his siblings, Phyllis Wallace, James Turner (Patsy), and Steve Turner Sr. (Ruth); along with a host of beloved nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family members, and countless friends who were blessed to know him.

Though his journey was not always easy, Sylvester fought hard, loved deeply, and lived boldly. He will always be remembered for his infectious personality, generous spirit, love of music, sharp style, and his unmistakable ability to make people laugh and bring life to any gathering.

Rest peacefully, TC. You fought a good fight. You lived life your way. Your legacy of love, laughter, style, and unforgettable memories will live on forever. Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever “Top Cat.”
