Susanne “Sue” Lawrence (Stoiber), age 85, of Sylvania, Ohio, passed away and joined the Lord peacefully Tuesday, April 28, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. The daughter of Ned B. and Allison G. (Lamberson) Stoiber, she was born on May 24, 1940, at the Robinwood Hospital of Toledo, Ohio.
Sue had a passion for traveling, going places as far away as the Republic of China. The happiest time of Sue’s life was when she lived in Florida. The sunshine, beach, Gardenias, and fresh air always gave her a smile.
After moving back to Toledo, she worked for many years at Universal Metals Product Co., located in Ottawa Lake, Michigan, before retiring. Sue found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved playing Ping Pong and Scrabble with her father, Ned. Sue loved working with her hands, such as gardening, crocheting, word searches, and her favorite past time was watching the 6:00 news.
Later in life she enjoyed playing Bingo with her friends at the Sunset House and could never pass up a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. To all that knew her, Sue was a constant source of unwavering love, strength and guidance. She also had a compassionate, generous, and humble heart that touched many people.
Sue’s generosity was unmatched and she truly had a heart of gold. Above all, Sue was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and mother-in-law. Lovingly known as “Grandma Sue” she treasured her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are daughters, Robyn (Rob) Cattaneo of AZ, Lori (Mark) Lawrence of Maumee; and son, Todd (Deanna) Lawrence of Sylvania; sisters, Jerolyn Wolfe and Sally Reed, both of Sylvania; brother, Jeff Stoiber of FL; grandchildren, Ronald, Shawn, John, Nicole, Tiffany, Robert, Michael, Markus, Rachael, Zachary and Gabriel; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda (Richard) Urbanowski.
A private service will be held at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery, on Saturday May 23, 2026. The family extends a warm thank you to everyone at the Sunset House in Ottawa Hills for their close friendships and care over the many years. Sue’s departure will be deeply felt and she will be dearly missed by all that knew her. Flowers may be received at Woodlawn Cemetery by Friday, May 22, 2026.
