Listen to Obituary

Susanne "Sue" Sentle, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and a devoted member of her community, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026, in Sylvania, Ohio. Born on September 10, 1940, in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, Sue grew up in Lima, Ohio, with her parents and two sisters.

A graduate of Lima Senior High School, Sue furthered her education at Ohio State University for one year. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Courts of Sylvania Tennis Club for five years before retiring after 12 years at Westside Montessori School in Toledo.

Known for her easy-going and family-oriented spirit, Sue was deeply beloved by those who knew her. She shared her love of tennis, having played since the 1970s as a dedicated member of USA League Tennis. Beyond the courts, her lively enthusiasm extended to being a season ticket holder for the University of Toledo Women’s basketball team and a lifelong supporter of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Ohio State University football teams. Sue’s passion for sports was matched by her enjoyment of watching tennis and golf on tv. She also enjoyed leisure programming on the Hallmark Network, Food Network, and QVC.

Her social life was rich and vibrant, enriched by a great network of friends with whom she played tennis, vacationed, enjoyed numerous sporting events, and participated in a local book club.

Sue treasured her times spent vacationing with family and friends at favored destinations including Amelia Island, Florida; Hilton Head, South Carolina; Chautauqua, New York; Aruba; and the summers at Bird Lake, creating memories that will be held dear by all.

She leaves behind her loving children, Cynthia (John) Cichy and Christopher Sentle; her sister, Patricia (Craig) Howard; and grandchildren, Robert (Deeptha) Cichy, Danielle (Chad) Allemon, Dustin (Samantha) Sentle, Kyle (Brittany) Sentle, Allyson Sentle, Christopher Sentle, Isabel Sentle, Olivia Sentle, Madeline Sentle, Molly (Andy) Burmeister, and Tori (Reece) Cosby; as well as great-grandchildren, Olivia, Levi, Kameron, Brailynn, Brinnley, Aadhi, Arjun, Parker, McKenzi and Wyatt. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including Joe Dowling, Casey (Bob) Wagner, Wendy (Pat) Torrence, Tamara (Craig) Allen, Jake Bernard, Steve Lones, Wesley (Jenny) Lones, Tyler (Margaux) Howard, and Ariel Pasden.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Clare and Lucylle Stump, Jr.; her son, Jesse W. Sentle, III; and her sister, Rebecka Flanders.

Sue's legacy is one of warmth, love of family, and an inspiring zest for life. Her presence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.
