Steven Michael Willets, age 75, of Toledo, OH, passed away on August 8, 2025. He was born in Toledo, OH on September 25, 1949, the only child of Samuel “Jack” Willets and Ethel (Minnick) Willets.
After graduating from Libbey High School, Steve studied engineering at the University of Toledo and served in the Army National Guard. During his lifetime he worked in sales at Nickles Bakery, Arrowhead Printing and ended his career at Northwest Electrical Contracting as a heavy equipment operator, a job that he truly loved, retiring in 2015.
Steve loved fishing, golfing and gambling and was a talented carpenter, always using his craftmanship to build enhancements for his home. He was, the ‘life of the party’ with a quick witted, charming and fun-loving personality that will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his wife Kelly (Rapp) Willets, daughters Sherrie, Carrie and step-daughter Alexandra (Jeff) Bunker; grandchildren Noah and Audrey Bunker; brothers Joseph Brown, Oliver (Patricia) Brown and many nieces and nephews and his beloved rescue dog companion, Minnie Sue.
The family will receive guests on Monday, August 18th, 2025 from 5-7:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, West Sylvania Chapel, 3655 King Road, Toledo, OH. Interment will be private at Bedford Memorial Gardens in Temperance, MI.
The family would like to express our gratitude to Dr. Donald Vogel, MD and his staff; Dr. Fadhil Hussein, MD FACC of Cardiology Care Associates and his staff and Ohioans Home Health care and all the therapists who worked so hard and so kindly with Steve throughout the years. In addition a heartfelt Thank You to Chaplain Johnnie Willis, Jr. who was such a comfort during Steve’s last moments and afterward.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those wishing to make a memorial donation are asked to consider any Veteran’s charities.
