Steven W. Kime

Steven Kime age 74 of Toledo, OH passed away on November 21, 2025. He was born in Toledo, Oh on September 21, 1951 to William C. and Beverly J. (Nusbaum) Kime. Steve was a 1969 graduate of Bowsher High School.

Who knows what tomorrow brings. The road is long, there are mountains in our way, but we climb a step every day. That was Steve, a man who fought from a young age with Crohn’s Disease, depression, and in the last 7 months with Stage 4 Lung Cancer. To know him was to love him, his sarcastic sense of humor, his love for family and friends and anyone that was fortunate enough to cross his path. His life journey took him down some rocky roads over the years but his resilience to live life was always foremost. His family was and always will be a legacy to a life well lived despite all the obstacles.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 53 years, Betty (Johnson) Kime who loved and supported him endlessly. He is also survived by his loving and devoted children, Kristina Kime Smith (Joseph) Zuccarell, Matthew S. Kime and Christopher R. Kime. The light of his life, his beloved grandchildren, Amanda (Brant Schaefer), Ashley Smith, Joseph S.W. Zuccarell, Steven D. Kime, Asia-Marie Kime and Brylee and Fynlee Smith. Last but not least, the bestest little great grandsons a Papa could ever ask for, Wyatt and Walker Schaefer. They always lifted his spirits and put a smile on his face; Sister Karen (Bob) Adams who offered so much love and support during this difficult time, sister Cindy (Randy) Simon; aunt Shirley Allison of Denver CO; cousins, nieces, nephews, James DeSandro; brother-in-law James Simpler; all his friends and family from Wise, Virginia to Toledo, Ohio he appreciated and loved you all.

Steve loved working in his garage, creating and restoring furniture, estate sales, his vacations with family was always an event and most of all babies, he never passed up a chance to hold one. His love for music of the 60’s and 70’s was endless, even when he changed the lyrics when singing. Music was his life-line.

To all the family and friends that came to celebrate Halloween, you can never know the joy it brought to him. 53 years of love, laughter and seeing all the “rugrats” in their costumes. We are so grateful he had the opportunity one last time to share in the occasion.

To all our family and friends, we would like to thank you for the prayers, cards, Go-Fund-Me, love and support. It brought him so much joy. His life mattered! We would like to thank everyone at the Toledo Clinic, Dr.Phinney, Joanne, Lisa and the staff that made his cancer journey so much easier. And most of all, the sense of humor you shared with Steve. A big thank you to Taylor Cancer Research Center. Sarah, the endless chemo and extra infusion days. We appreciated it all! To the paramedics at our home who did everything to keep Steve going, UTMC doctors and nurses who gave it their all, we thank you! Steve had the best support team ever!

Your next and final adventure begins as you join your loving mother, Beverly (Nusbaum) Kime, father, William C. Kime; in-laws Emogene (Moore) and William M. Johnson and all the others that are waiting for you at the gates of Heaven.

In honoring Steve’s wishes, cremation has taken place with the Newcomer Funeral Home Toledo Southwest Chapel. In the Spring of 2026, a Celebration of Life for Steve will be held at Walbridge Park Toledo, Ohio.
