Sofia Vogiatzis, born Sofia Valavanis on March 13, 1927, in Agia Paraskevi, Mytilini, Greece, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025, in Toledo, Ohio. She was a remarkable homemaker and a loving, dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. A dynamic and powerful presence in the lives of those who had the honor of knowing her, Sofia embodied a spirit of unwavering love and care that transcended generations.

Her life was a true testament to familial devotion. Sofia's legacy is one of strength; she poured her heart into everything she did for her family, ensuring that her loved ones felt cherished every single day. She was not just a mother or grandmother—she was a guiding spirit and a source of unconditional support. Everyone in her village remembered her fondly, and in 2017, she moved to the United States, reuniting with her loving family. This was a time filled with joy as she basked in the warmth of her family's love, a blessing that she truly cherished.

Sofia will be forever missed by her devoted son, Vasilios (Angela) Vogiatzis, and her beloved daughter, Olympia (her late husband, James) Ntakos. She is survived by a lineage that will carry her spirit forward: her cherished grandchildren—Katherine (Sam) Katrakozos, Ignatios Ntakos, Sophia (Jay) McCabe, and Stratos (Lesley) Vogiatzis—along with her adored great-grandchildren, Manny and James Katrakozos, Liam and Lucas McCabe, and Vassi Vogiatzis.

Though she is no longer with us, Sofia's memory will live on through the love and warmth she instilled in everyone around her. She joins her beloved parents, Athanasios and Olympia Valavanis, her loving husband, Etstratios Vogiatzis, her sister, Froso Yiannakelli, and her brother, Kostas Valavanis, who await her in eternal peace.
