Skylar Baker, born on December 6, 1999, in Sylvania, Ohio, peacefully passed away on April 2, 2026, in Oregon, Ohio. Skylar was a radiant soul whose lively spirit filled every room she entered, instantly becoming the center of attention with her sassy charm and unmistakable style. With her sparkling blue eyes, she captivated those around her, enchanting everyone who had the privilege to know her.

A devoted fan of the beloved movie Shrek, Skylar’s enthusiasm for the film was as boundless as her personality; she was affectionately known as the biggest Shrek fanatic and was famously regarded as the best eye roller in Ohio. Skylar’s love extended beyond movies; she cherished her time spent on girl days with her sister Mikaela, enjoyed listening to Taylor Swift, and found joy in visiting the movies and the zoo. Her fondness for people watching reflected her warm curiosity and genuine interest in the world.

Skylar’s education journey included graduating from Woodlane School in 2019 and furthering her learning at KanDu Group in Findlay. She embraced life with vivacity, never missing the opportunity to attend the special needs prom and  "A Night to Shine," events she deeply loved year after year.

Her family was the heart of her world. Skylar treasured her beagle Shrek, whose recent passing was deeply felt. She was lovingly known as a “pretty princess,” relishing compliments and cherished moments alike. Skylar’s warm connections extended to her family and close friends, including her mother Nikki Shinevarre, step-father Dave Shinevarre, sister Mikaela Dawson and her partner Jose Benalcazar, step-brother Tommy Shinevarre, step-sisters Kimberly Kiser and husband Jake, Kaytlyn Hutchison, grandmothers Diann Dawson and Tamie McFeggan with her husband Ken, aunts Kristi Russell and husband Jerry, Brenda Garmon and husband Brian, cousins Kiley and Sophie Kops, Keera and Kellen Garmon, and nieces Hope and Harper Kiser. Their love and support created a network of care and comfort that Skylar fully embraced.

Skylar is also remembered tenderly by those who have gone before her, including her beloved PaPa, Mike Dawson, her best friend Amber Heiss, and great-grandparents Shirley and Jack Flannagan. Their enduring memories live on in the hearts of those who mourn her passing.

A visitation to honor Skylar’s life will be held on April 12, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northwest Toledo, located at 4150 W Laskey Rd, Toledo, Ohio. The funeral service will follow the same day from 4:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the same location.
