Shirley enjoyed a distinguished career as a foreign service diplomat for the United States, where she served her country with pride in Geneva, Switzerland. This role allowed her to experience many cultures around the world, a passion she shared with her husband, Michael John Grambley, whom she married 47 years ago. Together, they journeyed through life and explored places such as Frankfurt, Germany, Helsinki, Finland and many other places around the world. Their adventures fostered a spirit of inquiry and appreciation for the rich tapestry of global life.

Her family remembers her as thoughtful and generous, donating her time and love to teaching children. Shirley's deep faith anchored her throughout her life, reflecting her solid Christian values. She was filled with love and had a very big heart, always extending compassion to those around her. Her devotion to her family was evident in the precious memories she created with them. She loved playing board games and card games with her grandkids, often engaging in lively games of Progressive Rummy with her daughters, bringing joy and laughter to their gatherings.

Shirley's interests included a profound love for wildlife, which showcased her appreciation for nature and all living things. She found joy in arts, crafts, and sewing, often creating beautiful handmade items for her family and friends. Her creative spirit was a source of inspiration to many, and her thoughtful gestures will be deeply missed.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Michael John Grambley; her children, Michael James Grambley, Melissa Halstead, and Morgan Ewers; eight grandchildren, Sabastian, Connor, Kerrington, Elijah, Savannah, Logan, Landon, and Autumn; her great-grandson, Enzo; her brothers, Walt Dempsey and Jeff Dempsey; and her father, Walter Dempsey. They, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family, will hold her close in their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Juanita Dempsey; her twin sister, Sheila Dempsey; and her nephews, Bryan and John. Each of them played a significant role in her life, and their memories continue to resonate within her family.

The legacy that Shirley leaves behind is one of love, kindness, and unwavering faith. Her family invites everyone to join them in remembering her remarkable life at a visitation to be held on May 8, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM, both at the Newcomer Funeral Home, West Sylvania in Toledo, Ohio. A graveside service will take place at Toledo Memorial Park at 2:15 PM.

Shirley Dempsey Grambley will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her dedication to her loved ones, and her enduring legacy of compassion. May she rest in peace.
