Sherley H. Blessing, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026, in her hometown of Toledo, Ohio. Born on September 29, 1928, Sherley’s life was a tapestry woven with laughter, love, and devotion to her family.
Sherley’s early years in Toledo were marked by the close bond she shared with her large family, one of 14 siblings, including her sister Marlene Menter and brother John Morse, who, along with his wife Jill, survive her. Her warm and infectious sense of humor endeared her to all who knew her, and she had a special gift for making people laugh, brightening even the darkest of days.
After the sudden loss of her husband, William Blessing, in 1972, Sherley demonstrated remarkable resilience and dedication. She spent many years working as a housekeeper at Villa North Nursing Home, where her kindness and commitment touched the hearts of both residents and staff alike. Yet, despite life’s challenges, Sherley’s spirit remained unbroken, her love for those around her unwavering.
Sherley’s days were colored by simple pleasures that brought her joy: a steadfast affection for animals, the soulful rhythms of big band music, and the companionship of audible books. She enjoyed peanut butter at every meal—morning, noon, and night—and cherished gathering with friends for a game of Bunco back in the day. Bowling was another pastime she treasured, reflecting her lively spirit and warmth.
Her family was her greatest pride and joy. She is survived by her daughter, Sandey Spencer; her sons, Bill Blessing and his wife Irene, and Steve Blessing; grandsons Brian Spencer and Christopher Blessing, who is married to Stephanie and granddaughter, Cheyenne Blessing; and her great-granddaughters Kendall and Olivia Blessing. Their love and support were constants in her life, and these precious relationships were a source of immense happiness.
Sherley’s life leaves behind a legacy filled with countless cherished memories—too many to capture in words—of laughter shared and love given freely. She was a beacon of light and joy in the lives she touched, remembered fondly as a woman who lived deeply, loved fiercely, and laughed without reservation. Sherley was the best aunt to her many nieces and nephews.
