It’s with great sadness that the family of Shanon (Sōkei) Allene Bostater announce her passing. She was a wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, artist, therapist, yogi, protector, wise one, lover of nature, and practitioner of Buddhism. Shanon’s life has scattered seeds of tenderness and transformation wherever she has gone, reminding us to create possibility even in the midst of all that seems impossible. She worked as an art therapist and clinical counselor at Bedford Behavioral Health, as the program director at Good Grief of NW Ohio, and as an art and activities therapist at Promedica Children’s Hospital.
Shanon journeyed through her cancer diagnosis rooted in love and with a tenacious capacity to find and form pathways of compassion, grace, curiosity, and understanding. She wrote a blog about her experiences at therootedlotus.com, where her story and her art invite others into a deeper exploration of what it means to be human, to be endlessly evolving, and to live with passion and purpose. She is survived by her husband Kurt, children Taytum Youssef, Harrison and Ainsley Bostater, Mom Karen Walker, brothers Steven and Kevin Walker, and many soul sisters and treasured friends. She was preceded in death by her Dad Rick Walker, Grandparents Charles & Elaine Walker, Harry & Letha Bailey, Uncle Rob Walker and her Nephew Conner Byrne.
The family wishes to thank the tapestry of communal supporters who have woven care and love around them and Hospice of NW Ohio who joined that tapestry with their wonderful care and support.
