Scott L. Clausing, a dedicated and skilled programmer known for his work in the aviation industry, passed away on May 10, 2026, in Toledo, Ohio. Born on December 1, 1971, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Scott’s journey was marked by professional excellence, heartfelt devotion to family and friends, and a genuine commitment to his community.

Scott earned his degree in computer science from The University of Wisconsin - Platteville, a foundation that launched his career at Avista in Platteville, Wisconsin, where he specialized in programming for the aviation sector. His work reflected a precision and clarity of mind that those who knew him admired greatly.

Outside of his professional life, Scott nurtured his passion for woodworking at his family’s business, Woodcraft, located in Toledo. This hands-on craft was a source of joy and creativity for him. His love of motorcycles was also prominent; Scott treasured riding his Harley-Davidson with his significant other, the love of his life, Tracy Heckart who passed away in 2021, and their circle of friends. Among his proudest moments was his participation in the 2008 Harley-Davidson 105th Anniversary Parade in Milwaukee, as well as serving as an official judge at the Harley-Davidson motorcycle show—an honor that highlighted his deep connection to this community.

Scott was a man of firm principles and steadfast loyalty. Those who truly knew him experienced his willingness to offer help unconditionally. He had a special place in his heart for children and dogs alike, reflecting a kindness that extended beyond his immediate circles. During his time in Wisconsin, he devoted himself to volunteering with various educational non-profits aimed at supporting children—a testament to his generous spirit.

He also found pleasure in the camaraderie of the American Legion, Post 468, in Sylvania, a connection that resonated with his family’s military heritage. His late father, Orville Clausing, served proudly in the United States Army, an honor that underscored the values Scott carried with him throughout his life.

Scott is survived by his loving mother, Carroll J. Nystrom; step-father, John Nystrom; sister, Heidi Vincent, and her husband Brian; step-brothers Jason Nystrom and his wife Cathy, and Robert Nystrom and his wife Megan; as well as a wide network of nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles who will deeply miss him. The cherished memory of his father, Orville Clausing, lives on in those who knew him.

Scott L. Clausing’s life was marked by strong convictions, steady kindness, and a dedication to the people and causes he cared about most. His memory will be honored by all who were fortunate enough to share in his journey.
