Sandra Drake

Sandra Drake, affectionately known as Sandy and cherished as "Gram" by her grandchildren, passed away peacefully in Toledo, Ohio, on July 21, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on August 6, 1947, in Toledo, she lived a life marked by love, dedication, and a nurturing spirit.

Sandy was an exemplar of caregiving in both her personal and professional life. She dedicated many years as a Registered Nurse at Toledo Hospital and served as the Director of Medical Records for Promedica Caring Home Health Services. Her commitment to her work was only surpassed by her devotion to her family. Early in her life, Sandy spent many of her weekends with her group of fellow parents and friends on Regis Dr. where they spent countless hours of sharing food and fun. The pride she felt in raising her wonderful children, Jon and Jenn, was evident in every aspect of her life. She embraced her role as a mother wholeheartedly, nurturing them with love and instilling in them the values of kindness and compassion.

In addition to her remarkable career, Sandy found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life. She cherished every moment spent with her beloved family and friends, creating lasting memories that will be treasured forever. Whether it was cooking in the kitchen with her grandchildren, where laughter and delicious aromas filled the air, or spending sun-soaked days boating at the cottage on the lake, she understood the importance of these moments. Sandy's deep love for nature and animals only enhanced her vibrant personality, making her a beacon of warmth to all who knew her.

Sandy leaves behind her beloved son, Jon (Kelly) Drake, and her daughter, Jenn (Rob) Vita. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Allie, Adriana, Madison, and Zack, who were the light of her life. Sandy is survived by her loving significant other, Bob Hodge, who brought autumns of joy in her life. Sandy is also survived by her sister, Sue Richardson. Sandy is preceded in death by her parents, Jean Stannard (nee Moss) and Robert A. Stannard and her beloved dogs Gina, Molly, and Bailey.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Sandy's life on July 30, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Newcomer Funeral Home in Northwest Toledo. A procession will take place on July 31, 2025, at 10:00 AM, followed by burial with a graveside service at Toledo Memorial Park at 11:00 AM.

As we reflect on the beautiful moments shared with Sandy—each smile, every hug, and each meal prepared with love—we find solace in knowing that her spirit will live on in our hearts, guiding us with the values she instilled.
