Rose Marie Pegorsch

Rose Marie (Kuenzel) Pegorsch, age 97, passed away peacefully at her daughter

Helen’s home in Delta, Ohio, under the care of Hospice, on Thursday, September 17, 2026.

Rose Marie was born on August 31, 1929, in Toledo, Ohio, to Rose and William

Kuenzel. She attended St. Mary’s School in Toledo and graduated from Notre Dame

High School in 1947.

Rose Marie worked for many years as a cook and barmaid at the Deluxe Inn and the

Dog House, where she enjoyed serving her favorite customers from Teledyne and

General Mills in West Toledo.

Rose Marie enjoyed playing bingo with her mother and her dear friends Mary Jane and

Dolly. She loved watching old westerns and movies starring Clark Gable. One of her

favorite weekly traditions was going to lunch and shopping with her daughters,

something she continued to enjoy until she was 96.

On Sundays, Rose Marie cherished cooking dinner for her family, especially her famous

gravy. Some of her happiest memories were made gathered around the table with the

people she loved.

Rose Marie is survived by her children, Helen Bodi, Carol (Mark) Chovanec, Tom

(Marilynn Barnett) Pegorsch, and Janet Bloom; grandchildren, Bonnie (Gordon)

Armistead, Kevin Bodi, Bart (Meghan) Chovanec, and Elizabeth (Jeff) Martens; and

great-grandchildren, Griffin, Grace, Blaine, Abbigail, Luke, Morgan, and Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rose and William Kuenzel; brothers, Elmer

and Bob; sister, Ruth; husband, Kenneth Pegorsch; granddaughter, Carrie Chovanec;

and sons-in-law, Robert Bodi and Richard Bloom.

Rose’s family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to her wonderful

caregivers, Gennie, Marilynn, and Elizabeth. Special thanks are also extended to all of

the nurses and caregivers from Hospice of Northwest Ohio, especially nurse Lisa and

aide Jessica, for their compassionate care and support.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.,

with a service beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3655 King Road,

Toledo, Ohio. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 5725 Hill Avenue, Toledo.
