Ronald "Ron" "RJ" J. Wiener

Ronald John “RJ” Wiener, of Maumee, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, at the age of 80. He was born on August 11, 1945, in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, to Robert and Bernice Wiener.

RJ built a life defined by kindness, humor, and love for those around him. A dedicated computer programmer, he shared his intelligence and work ethic with colleagues, yet always made time for family, friends, and the pursuits that brought him joy.

Though a quiet man, RJ’s presence was always deeply felt. He loved the outdoors—fishing, camping, hunting, and hockey. He especially treasured the annual “Sons of the Sons” canoe trips, family tobogganing adventures at Pokagon, and the “Wiener Wheelin’ Weekends” he shared with his brother Rick, and their families for more than a decade. He enjoyed countless visits to “the shack” and, in later years, embraced life as a snowbird with his beloved Marie, spending the last eight winters together in Florida.

RJ cherished lively moments with family and friends, often marked by laughter with trips to “Kroger”, enjoying a margarita at his favorite Mexican restaurant, or serving up a pot of his famous secret chili, which he proudly brought to many gatherings. Known for his warmth and generosity, he had a gift for making people feel welcome.

He was the devoted husband of 55 years to his late wife, Marie, who passed away earlier this year. Together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and enduring traditions. RJ is survived by his daughters, Kathryn Walker and Patricia Wiener (Angela Niemann); and his grandchildren, Brandon Owens (Lilli Jacob-Owens), Nicole Owens, and Jack Walker. He also leaves behind his siblings, Russell Wiener (Dorothy Wiener), Carol Nerland (Noel Nerland), and Audry Sparby (Mike Sparby). He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Rick Wiener (JV Wiener).

A Mass celebrating RJ’s life will be held on October 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Parish 5856 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo, OH 43614. A visitation will follow.
