Born in Adrian Michigan October 31,1937 to Nathaniel and Leona Jackson. Ron attended Adrian High School and graduated in 1955. After high school Ron chose to serve his country and joined the Navy with some friends. Ron was deployed on a carrier out of San Diego and spent months at sea in the pacific and was honorably discharged in June of 1960.
Upon leaving the Navy Ron stayed in California for a couple of years and worked as a mechanic at a gas station in San Jose. His first child Jeffrey was born in San Jose in 1962 to Ron and Delores. That same year Ron and Delores moved to Michigan where he attended Ferris State University studying the Tool and Die trade. In the summer of 1963, his second child Julie was born in Big Rapids Michigan. After completing his studies at Ferris State Ron served his apprenticeship at Hoover Ball Bearing in Saline Michigan. After completing his apprenticeship Ron landed his career defining position as tool maker with General Motors at the Hydramatic facility in Toledo,Ohio. Ron retired from GM in 1997.
After Retirement Ron enjoyed traveling the mountain states of North Carolina and the Tennessee smokie mountains. Ron eventually traveled back to his beloved home area of Toledo in 2000 where he married Carol Dee, his old flame from the 80’s. Ron and Carol have lived in the Toledo area ever since.
Ron loved fast cars, hunting and eating jelly donuts! Ron spent his early years after returning from California building hot rods and racing at Milan Dragway. I can still smell the bleach from the burnouts!! Good times were spent at the drags. Ron and his children shared a love for Detroit sports teams and attended many games over the years. George Kell was his favorite tiger player back in the day. Following the leadership of his parents Ron grew to become a devout man of faith and is a member of Emmanual Baptist Church in Toledo. Ron is survived by his wife Carol, siblings; Carolyn and Stephen, children; Jeffrey and Julie, grandchildren; Derek and Jennifer. The family would like to give a big shout out to Ron and Carol’s long-time caregivers Dana Lefevers and Julie Gilkerson. We Thank you two from the bottom of our hearts for all you have done over the years to keep these two comfortable.
Be at peace ole man! Give gramma a hug for us….
