Ron F. Petro

Ronald F. Petro, age 56, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 14, 2025, in Cleveland, Ohio. Born in Toledo on July 27, 1969, Ron was the cherished son of Frank and Kathleen (Tarka) Petro.

Ron attended E.L. Bowsher High School, then went to  proudly serve in the United States Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz, Ron continued his education at Owens Community College, subsequently ending his professional life to Midwest II Inc as their materials manager.

Ron is remembered as a gentle soul who tended to keep to himself but had a profound love for his family. He gave the best hugs and created memorable moments through his exceptional cooking. His passion for family shone brightly in his proudest roles as a father to Benjamin (Lexi) Petro and as a grandfather to his cherished grandson, Elliot Daniel Petro.

In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by his beloved canine companion, Beau; his mother, Kathy Petro; brothers, Robert (Naomi Campbell) Petro and Frank (Jannette Osterhout) Petro; and sister-in-law, Amy Petro.

Ron was preceded in death by his father, Frank Petro; his brother, Dan Petro; and his grandparents, Rose Petro, and Esther and Walter Tarka.

Ron’s spirit will be honored during visitation, which will be held on August 21, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Toledo, located at 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo, OH 43614.

Those who were fortunate to know Ron will remember him fondly for his quiet strength, culinary talents, and the warmth of his embrace.
