Roman R. Rywalski, age 99, of Toledo, OH passed away November 19, 2018 at Swanton Health Care. He was born September 20, 1919 in Toledo to Walter and Frances (Rahuba) Rywalski. Roman served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII as a Training Sergeant and then saw action in Northern Europe (Battle of the Bulge as well as several other actions). His unit saved the concentration camp at Dachau, and he was discharged in 1945. He was employed with American Floor for 25 years, and retired from Sharon Manufacturing after working10 years. Roman was a life-time member of VFW Post 606. He had a passion for numbers and people. Roman served many years as Treasurer for the Christ the King, now Directions Credit Union. He was always able to easily strike up a conversation with anyone he met. He loved to follow the Detroit Tigers and Mud Hens Baseball Teams.
Roman is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Cleo Ann (Neuman) Rywalski; children, Teresa (Robert) Musser, Dianne Hillyer and Michael Rywalski; grandchildren, Julie (Ervin) Kosch, Laura Owen, Jennifer (Alexandre Hashimoto) Musser, Kelly (Shane) Cody and Sarah Hillyer; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Roman was preceded in death by his brothers, John, Frank and Joseph Rywalski.
The family will receive guests, Sunday, November 25, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Newcomer West Sylvania Chapel, 3655 King Road, Toledo, OH (419-392-9500). Funeral Services will begin Monday, November 26, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
