Robert dedicated 38 years of his career as a maintenance supervisor for SOHIO/BP, earning the respect of his colleagues and the gratitude of those he served. A proud veteran, he honorably served in the Navy during World War II and again during the Korean War, demonstrating commitment to his country that he carried with him throughout his life.

A lifelong learner, Robert received his education at St. Benedictine High School and furthered his studies at Cleveland State College and Bucknell University. He was known for being organized, driven, and possessing a keen sense of purpose. Robert’s kindness and willingness to help others greatly impacted those around him.

His faith was a cornerstone of his life; Robert was a devout Catholic and a long-time parishioner of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Sylvania, Ohio, as well as Christ the King Catholic Church, where he remained steadfast in his beliefs. His memory is enriched by the stories of his travels to places as diverse as Australia and Europe, passionately exploring all continents, and immersing himself in different cultures.

Robert’s family was his pride and joy. He is survived by his two daughters, Maureen Gordon and Colleen Lishewski, as well as his grandchildren: Carrie Mulnix, Jennifer Demme, Michael Lishewski, and Nicholas Lishewski. He was also a loving great-grandfather to seven great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathleen Gannon Manning, with whom he shared 40 years of love and companionship, and his partner, Elizabeth Milling, with whom he spent 29 years. He is also reunited in spirit with his parents, Francis Manning and Margaret Kilbane Manning, as well as his sister, Rita Kettering.

Robert F. Manning will be remembered not only for his many accomplishments but also for his enduring spirit, warm heart, and the profound impact he had on the lives of those who knew him. His legacy of love, service, and dedication will continue to inspire many.
