Robert E. "Bob" Gibson, Jr., age 67, of Toledo, electrician by trade, carpenter by hobby, father by heart, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Friday, April 28, 2017 at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania. He was born on August 5, 1949 to Robert E. "Hoot" and Anna Gaynell (Baughman) Gibson, Sr. in Toledo. Bob graduated from Whitmer High School in 1968 where he received varsity letters in football and bowling. He enjoyed working with his hands to build something beautiful and always willing to help others. Bob cherished the outdoors, traveling, boating, camping, fishing, bowling, card games, and spending time with his family. He was a passionate follower of the Buckeyes and Cleveland sports. Bob was also known by his family as the Executive Director of FFO's. He will be remembered as being the kindest, most selfless, and gentle man ever known.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald E. Gibson. Left to honor his memory are son, Matthew E. Gibson; daughter, Laura A. Gibson; granddaughter, Brooklyn T. Fleck; sister and best friend, Lynda G. (Fred) Gibson-Lisk; mother of his children and friend, Donna S. Gibson; known as "UB" by his nieces and nephews, Cynthia S. Coci and her children, Anthony, Michael and Nicholas; Brian L. (Julie) Lisk; Jennifer L. (Ryan) Reiter and her children, Evan, Anna, and Nolan; Amanda M. Lisk (Aaron Nowaczyk); family friend, Virginia Papenfuss and her daughter, Michelle (Joe) Weiser.
The family will receive guests on Friday, May 5, 2017 from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania, Ohio.
