Pastor Robert Lee Fry, 76, of Toledo, Ohio, completed a life well lived here on Earth and went to His forever Heavenly home on August 20, 2026. His life centered around serving Jesus Christ, and we can only imagine that the first words spoken to Bob in Heaven would be “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
A life of service is what Pastor Fry will be most remembered for, as he and his beloved wife of forty-four years, Terry, poured their hearts and souls into what would become Heritage Church of God (originally North Cove Blvd Church of God), first in Toledo, then in Monclova Township, for forty-one years.
A native of Melrose and Delphos, Ohio, Pastor Fry would go on to the United States Navy, Petty Officer 2nd class, Aviation Electrician, VP-30 Flight Crew on P-3 A, B, and C Orion Aircrafts, from 1969-1973, at NAS-PAX River Maryland, then served in the reserves until 1975. It was in front of one of those airplane hangars that he would be called to preach. Bob would go on to receive a doctorate from Midwestern Bible College.
During his 40+ years in ministry, Pastor Fry held revivals, opened a school, ran bus ministries, hosted radio programs, published several books, was featured on many television broadcasts, and even ran for Congress in OH-2 in 2014.
If you asked him what his greatest accomplishment was, he would’ve probably pointed you to his family. Dr. Rev. Robert Lee Fry is survived by his loving wife, Terry; children, Rob (Dani) Fry, Bonnie (Mike) Mahnke, Andrea (Josh) Quigg; grandchildren, Chase (Nicole) Fry, Tyler Fry, Brendon Fry, Brooklyn Fry, Emma Fry, Michaela Mahnke, Josiah Mahnke, Jett Quigg, Liam Quigg; great-grandchildren, Audrina, Carter, Calix, Rebel, Braxton, Brayden, Braylen and Amarah; sister, Rev. Carol (Jerry) Retcher; brother, Rev. James (Lisa) Fry; sister-in-law Jayne (Fry) Mussery; sister-in-law Sandy (Steve) McDonald; brother-in-law Richard (Cindy) Skiver. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, a wonderful church family, and many great friends. He was preceded in death by parents, Edward Sr. and Arabell (Judy) Fry; brother, Edward Jr. Fry; and his father and mother-in-law, Norva and Frances Skiver.
Over thirty years ago, God spoke to Pastor Fry and gave him the words of this prayer: “Lord, I do not care what I do today but let me know I am where you want me to be, doing what you want me to do.” The Lord would give Bob seven years after his cancer diagnosis in 2019, and in those seven years, he continued to help build God’s kingdom by winning people to Jesus. Ask God to put you where He wants you, and like Pastor Robert Lee Fry, the Lord will give you an abundant life that matters.
Visitation will be held at Heritage Church of God, 3520 Strayer Rd. Maumee, OH on Sunday, August 23, 2026 from 1:30-8:00 PM. A celebration of Pastor Fry’s homecoming will take place on Monday, August 24, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Heritage Church of God with Pastor Tonya Kelly officiating. Memorials are suggested to go to Heritage Church of God.
