Robert Carl Brake, affectionately known as "Bobby", born on June 5, 1948, in Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025. He was a cherished member of his community, known for his sweet demeanor and quirky personality, as well as his remarkable gift for gab.
Robert dedicated a significant portion of his life to working diligently at Champion Spark Plug and Hunts as a janitor until his retirement. His commitment to his work exemplified his character, reflecting the values of diligence and responsibility that he upheld throughout his life.
He proudly served his country by enlisting in the U.S. Army on March 25, 1968, and was honorably discharged on March 1, 1974. His service marked a significant chapter in his life, instilling in him a sense of pride and camaraderie.
Robert attended Scott High School, where he laid the foundation for a life filled with rich experiences. He had a variety of interests, including fishing, bowling, and an unwavering passion for the Detroit Tigers. Additionally, Robert loved watching professional wrestling, sharing this enthusiasm with friends and family alike.
He is survived by his brother-in-law, Ed McGreevy; nephew Tony (Vicki) McGreevy; nieces Cindy (Michael) Kurdys, Tricia (Jason) Manner, and Jenny (Aaron) Ryall; great nieces Amanda, Emily, Bailey, Gracie, and Abbey; and great nephews A.J., Brennan, and Jacob. Robert also leaves behind a host of extended family and friends who will remember him fondly for his kindness and warmth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Catherine Brake, and his sisters, Judy Brake and Mary Lee McGreevy. In their memory, Robert’s legacy will continue through the love and memories shared among his family and friends.
Visitation for Robert will be held on July 8, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at St. Clement Catholic Church, located at 3030 Tremainsville Rd, Toledo, OH 43613. A Mass celebrating Robert's life will follow from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the same location.
As we remember Robert Carl Brake, we do so with gratitude for the moments shared and the love he spread. His presence will be dearly missed but forever cherished by all who knew him.
