Robert B. "Bob" Schwen
Robert B. "Bob" Schwen, 83, of Toledo, passed away Saturday October 5, 2002 at his residence. Bob was born April 8, 1919 in Toledo to Stanley and Caroline (LaVoy) Schwen. .
Bob served as a Major in the U.S. Airforce during W.W.II with 8th Airforce , 58th Fighter Group, 311 Fighter Group (P47), and after his discharge he served in the active reserves as a Engineering Officer.
He was employed as a Maintenance Manager with Ace Steel Bailing Co. and most recently with Champion Spark Plug for several years, retiring in 1983. Bob was also a Master Mason, and active in the Toledo Zenobia Shrine
" Arab Patrol " for many years. He was a volunteer with the Sparrows Nest, and the Cherry Street Mission.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Hope.
Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years Gloria of Toledo, Daughter: Judy ( Dennis ) Hill of Toledo, grandchildren: Amy ( Mike ) Feyes, Laurie ( Mark ) Segura, Mike ( Sue ) Pickard, and 6 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 PM. with Masonic services at 7:00 P.M. at the Newcomer – Farley Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road at Talmadge (419-473-0300). Services will be Wednesday at 11:00 in the Funeral Home. Interment, Toledo Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to The Shriners Children Burn Unit, or the Cherry Street Mission. .
