Richard Edward Keck

March 26, 1934 — July 19, 2025

Richard Edward Keck, a loving father, devoted husband, and cherished grandfather, passed away on July 19, 2025, in Toledo, Ohio, at the age of 91. Born on March 26, 1934, in Toledo, he carried with him the spirit of the city, a vibrant personality that radiated warmth and generosity to all who crossed his path.

His life was woven together with an unyielding dedication to family and faith. Richard enjoyed a fulfilling career in the transportation department at Jeep Corporation for over 30 years, a testament to his hard work and commitment to service. Concurrently, he took on roles that illustrated his character, serving as a Janitor for Dorr Street Church of God, North Cove Church of God, and Heritage Church of God. His faith was an anchor in his life; he sang proudly in church choirs, lifting spirits with the melodies of Christian Music that he so adored.

The memories forged with his children are treasures buried deep in their hearts. Richard delighted in taking his children fishing, with ice fishing sessions at the icy shores of Lake Erie becoming a yearly tradition. Family gatherings in Maple City, Michigan, and Charleston, West Virginia, painted a picture of love and laughter in his life, filled with moments of joy spent building snowmen and reminiscing about his adventurous tales from Alaska and Puerto Rico. His outgoing nature and penchant for storytelling made him the vibrant heart at family gatherings, drawing everyone into the warmth of his world.

Richard proudly served as a military policeman in the Army, earning a good conduct medal—a point of immense pride for him throughout his life. The values of duty, honor, and loyalty instilled during these years shaped the man he became, always ready to extend a hand to those in need, a trait that defined his generous soul. He could never say no, embodying the essence of charity and kindness, often putting others before himself.

He leaves behind a legacy of love through his devoted children: Rodney E. Keck and his wife Lauren; Robin Orszak and her husband Bob; and Ronda Grosvenor and her husband Edward. His grandchildren—Ashley Wolf and her husband Scott, Jordan Miller and his wife Amanda, Dustin Harrigan and his wife Amber, Nick Grosvenor and his wife Sarah, Shane Grosvenor, and Michelle Smith and her husband Luke, and Kaleb Grosvenor—along with great-grandchildren Zuri, Katherine, Zander, Sandra, Zeke, and Hunter, will carry forth the light he shared with them. Richard also leaves behind siblings Larry, Shirley, Rick, and Vicky, along with many nieces and nephews who will undoubtedly cherish his memory.

He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Clarence and Hazel Keck, wives Marilyn and Virginia as well as his first wife Lois, the mother of his 3 children and siblings Sharon, Karen, Edward, Ronald, and Betty, who awaited him in peace.

Richard Edward Keck's spirit lives on through the love he nurtured in his family, the lessons he imparted, and the laughter that still lingers in the hearts he has touched. His was a life filled with adventure, kindness, and an unwavering spirit that all who knew him will forever remember.

His family is forever grateful for the impeccable care he received through Elara Hospice and the Veterans Affairs Association, especially his personal aide Demitria and many other selfless aides. Without their unwavering dedication and patience, Richard could not have rested peacefully at his home surrounded by those he loved.
